While Harry Potter fans are suffering from Post-Potter Depression, Twihards are satisfying their vampire obsession with the recent release of Breaking Dawn: Part 1.
Similar to Harry Potter, the fourth and final installment of the Twilight Saga adopted the latest trend of stretching one book into two movies.
Taylor Lautner, shirtless is a great way to start the film and leaves fan girls drooling at his perfectly chiseled abs. The 19-year-old heartthrob sheds his shirt upon receiving an invitation to Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) and Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) luxurious wedding. However, don’t let the abs steer you away from the emotional performance he delivers. Staying true to the character Jacob Black, Lautner executes an image of masculinity on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside. His sad puppy face due to Jacob’s protective nature over Bella makes you want to reach out and give him a warm hug.
The actress popularly known for her sleek hair and flawless complexion indeed justified her role as Bella Cullen in the movie Breaking Dawn. Kristen Stewart, who donned only three expressions (bemused, more bemused and extremely bemused) for her previous movies, broke her stoic image by proving herself as a versatile actress. With emotions ranging from strong, stubborn and sizzling (piping hot in her lingerie) Bella in the first half of the movie, she moved the audience with sympathy in her pale and anorexic look in the second half. A special mention to her realistic acting skills towards the climax, especially the bone breaking scene which caused the theater audience gasps in shock and disgust.
Robert Pattinson, who plays the slender but mascular bodied vampire Edward Cullen, portrayed his consistent performance throughout the four movies. His love and concern towards Bella made every girl yearn for a husband like him. Not to forget his suddenly blossomed fatherly compassion towards his half human-half vampire hybrid daughter Renesmee was indescribable.
Though the movie stayed true to the portrayal of the novel, the slow pace of the movie can leave viewers agitated. Renesmee, the youngest and newest addition to the film is just as adorable and beautiful as she was described in the book. We can’t help but understand why Jacob imprints on her. It is hard not to imprint ourselves when we look into those big eyes with innocence aglow.
What takes us most by awe is the transformation from a stunning Bella Swan to sick and unacceptably cadaverous pregnant Bella Cullen which was marvelous.  Standing ovations to Bill Condon for going that extra mile to shoot the climax (the bone-breaking scene and the delivery scene) incredibly, as it was convincing and realistic.
