Dressing fashionably yet conforming to the school rules of Republic Polytechnic has been a difficult feat for most students. However Saddam proves them wrong, as he has a solution for both.
Thehumannequin caught up with Saddam to find out his take on this issue.
Fashion requires inspiration. For Saddam, it was not any different. He started out with magazines and reality fashion shows which sparked his interest on fashion. Introduced to the world of fashion by his uncle in 2009, Saddam hopes to turn his perpetual obsession in fashion into a long term career.
Dressing decent yet fashionable to school is never a chore for him as he quoted, “Just cover up, and get inspiration from any sources you can find and most importantly, mix and match the clothing in your wardrobe. Be bold.”
ZARA and Calvin Klein are brands that he favours and are boutiques that he frequents. However, when placed across a question if branded goods are what define fashion, Saddam remarked “No. You can dress in affordable clothing but then you have to style it appropriately according to your body type.”
“It’s not a need to dress fashionably, it’s my own inspiration. What I wear reflects my inner feelings.” Saddam quipped.
A fan of coats, he has a vast collection of them in his wardrobe which he dons a different one to school every day, styling it in many ways.
When asked on tips and advice for fashion, Saddam says “Remember, it is not about the branding of the clothes, it is about understanding your body type and dressing appropriately to it.”
